In January 2025, I was fortunate enough to join the science team working on Capturing Oceanic Submesoscales, Stirring, and Mixing with Sound and Simulations (COSSMoSS). This was a fantastic experience working in the field off the coast of Uruguay for four weeks aboard the RRS James Cook research vessel. I had a varied role including as a Marine Mammal Observer and Passive Acoustic Monitor while working with CTDs and the Autosub Long Range (otherwise known as Boaty McBoatface). I also co-ran the cruise blog documenting our time onboard and helped produce videos for the attached YouTube channel, all still available at https://cossmoss.blog .
